Is an IR loader needed for the PS2 Example 4 (XLR line out)?

I don’t own a PS2 yet, but I’m thinking about purchasing one soon. One of my use cases is like example 4, and I’m wondering if not using a guitar cab and only utilizing the XLR line out, if I need to have some cab/IR loader. I might sometimes run into my audio interface/DAW, but some times I’ll need to run direct to PA/monitors.

Similar question, could I use a cab/IR loader this way to potentially provide more tonal options even if it’s not required?

Just found this video below. Seems like the answer is that yes, you should use IR/cab sim with any of the line out options.
