I just purchased a second hand Lxii power amp and wanted to ask a question about changing the tubes: do the tubes need to be 2 separate pairs of matched or will a matched quad suffice? I looks like the original tubes were 2 matched pairs with different PC and TC values between channel A and B. Would a quad be ok as long as the values are identical? Any advice would be appreciated!
Hello, As long as each channel has a matched pair the amp will function properly. But if you can purchase a matched quad instead and install those, then both channels of the amp will perform identically. This may not be necessary for most player’s applications but you may as well if the matched quad is available.
