Hello, I’m having an issues with my original power station. All of a sudden it made some static type sounds and then the warm and brite switches essentially stopped working. I tested the tubes and they tested fine on my tester. When the switches are in the flat setting it sounds pretty dark. When i switch it to brite it is very fizzy and there is no difference in sounds between that and edge. Before there was a noticeable difference between the three settings and even in edge it never sounded fizzy and super brite. It sounds noww as if someone set it edge, then cranked the presence all the way and there is no in between now. Dark or super fizzy and brite. Am I having issues with the reactive part of the load? If you have it set to flat it is basically a resistive load correct?
Thanks for the help…
Hi Kevin,
You are in the right place, and welcome
I agree, this does sound like something has failed in the reactive load part of the circuit.
Is your unit under warranty? If so, contact the dealer to request a repair. Otherwise, there are basically two options:
- How can I send my product to Fryette for a repair (RMA Request)?
- Can I get my Fryette product repaired at a local repair shop?
Follow the instructions in the method you prefer.
Regards,
Dan
Hi Dan,
Thanks for getting back to me. I am definitely out of warranty it is a 2015 model. I did end up smoking a resistor the R503 on the inductor board. The board is a rev 1 2013. Unfortunately the value is burnt off and is not written on the board. I would like to swap it out. Also the cable from the hc4 connector on the board got a little hot from the proximity of the resistors and melted a bit. I would like to order a cable and replace it. Do I just contact support directly?
Thanks, Kevin
Hi Kevin,
You could ask for the replacement parts but it’s on the threshold of being easier to send it for a service. The latter is easier for the shop because it fits in with there existing process and they can give it a full health check. For example, they might find PCB damage etc. once they start the repair. I know it’s a pain in the ass packing and shipping, but might be less work if things don’t go well.
I’d suggest you post some photos of the damage and make an itemised list of everything you need. The easier you can make it from the shop the more likely they will agree to sending the parts!

Dan
Hi Dan,
i sent a message to support with some pics. I haven’t heard anything yet… i hope they are not being effected by the fires…
I’ll upload the pics here too. The parts I’m looking for are that resistor, harness. The main speaker out jack, and another harness that goes from the tube circuit board to the circuit board for the volume/pres/ depth…
Thanks for the help…
Hi Kevin,
You should send the actual BOM numbers written on the silkscreen. If you are asking for parts you need to be really specific and tell them I need a replacement resistor “R101” etc. They do not have the time to look at your photos and make a guess.
If this too much then I suggest my you send it in. In fact I’d recommend you send it in or find a local repair.
Regards,
Dan
