PS-2A Power on/off question

Is it okay to have the power turned off on the PS-2A if there is a cab connected. I know that for silent recording you don’t need the power on, but in that scenario there is no cab connected to the PS2. Can I have the PS-2A in between my amp and cab, and have the power turned off on the unit and still use the line out. Will that damage anything, or do I need to keep the power on?

Thanks

Hi

Yes, this is fine, it’s called silent mode

See more information in the user manual https://www.fryette.com/content/Power_Station2_Manual_FINAL.pdf

And yes you do not need a cab connected to the Power Station if the valve amplifier is off.

Thanks for the reply, but I was actually asking the opposite question. I was wondering if it will hurt anything if the PS2 is powered all the way off when there is a cab connected. Will the line out still work in this situation? Also, if there is NO cab connected (silent mode) will it hurt the PS2 if the power is turned on?

Let me try again

Yes a cab can be connected when the power is off.

Yes! It’s a passive line out, no power needed.

This is also fine! Without a cab connected the Power Station will not let you go into “operate mode” (even if the operate switch is on), it will keep the Power Station in standby - a self preservation feature.

Dan
