Studio Setup with di box

Unusual feedback loop

When using my warm audio di box plugging the guitar into the input, the thru to my pedalboard to my amp to the power load ir and the balanced xlr output of the di box to my interface, a focusrite clarett+ 8 just as I had used my captor x previously. With the ir out of the power load I get horrible feedback like there is a feedback loop somewhere no matter what setting or which output the balanced or unbalanced and it is always there to some extend whatever the volume settings. When using passive out 1 on the power load I have no issue. When using both I get the horrible feedback. When I don’t use the di box there Is no issue. Please help me understand what is causing this feedback loop and how to solve this problem.

Hi Ian, Thanks for contacting us! We are fairly certain that there is a ground loop somewhere in your gear configuration that is causing the feedback. Our reactive load behaves differently than the Two-Notes Captor X and it may be something as simple as lifting the ground on your Warm Audio DI. Please let me know if this helps you to discover the source of the issue. Thanks! Gil

So I ended up putting my radial bigshot aby amp switcher at the begining of my chain and used that to split between the amp and my direct box. I had to flip the polarity switch to 180 and that worked. Everything is plugged into the same outlet via a radial power 1 power conditioner. I always heard running into the same outlet would stop ground loops but not in my case. Power load ir works great though. A definite improvement from the captor x

Thats good news Ian! Thank you for that information, it will help with addressing any similar issues going forward. Happy to hear that you are digging your PL-IR. Thanks! Gil
