PS-2A FX Return

I noticed doing silent recording, that the fx return does not seem to be working, even with the unit powered on.

Does the loop only return to the speaker cab if there is one plugged in, or should I be able to use the fx return with the unit powered on?

@bpappas welcome :tada: to the community!

Are you using a preamp or amplifier into the power station?

I just got this to work using a preamp and external FX with the PS-2’s FX send and return.

I put Power Station into Self-Attenuation mode.

The FX is injected into the signal after the Amp-In (or Line-In), the effected signal enters the Power Amp and can be accessed via the Speaker Out. In Self-Attenuation mode, you take the Speaker Out and connect it to the Amp-In. Now Line-out can be connected to you DAW and you should hear the FX.

Add an IR or it will sound like ass.

I have an amp plugged into the amp in, and I was trying to add a pedal in via the loop. The send out was outputting audio, but the return did not appear to be working, even with the unit powered on.

I will take a look later with my PA-2 and try the same.

Did you check for bad cables or return socket on the pedal?

Yep, tried different cables, and a different pedal.

The FX Loop is post Line Out, so it’s normal that only the FX Send works.

This is shown in a couple of different places in the manual in the Silent Mode description and application example (page 9 I think).

If you can read a flow chart, maybe this will help:

John,

I did not see that block diagram previously. I think you are correct and the loop is only applied to the speaker output.

Thanks for your help, everyone.
