I wanted to ask before I tried. Can I operate my Gen 1 Power Station as load box / line out while unpowered?
The Gen 1 reactive load is rated to 150W - later models increased this to 200W. These rating are obviously with the fan active. I would derate this with a safety margin of 5x, so I would be happy to use this with 150W/5 = 30W amp without power.
If I was you, I would try it, and literally use my nose. If the resistors get too hot you should be able to smell that. Discontinue if that happens.
In summary, your best bet is to try, increment the volume on your amp slowly and check. The resistors are resilient, you cannot damage them with just one power excursion over a short period.
I use mine with the power on, but volume down to zero so I don’t have to worry.
