Hi,
I have a couple of questions about the PS 2a.
First, is it safe to run the amp into the PS 2a when there is no cab connected? If the PS 2a is in bypass mode? And if I have a cable inserted in the cab out but no cab connected in the other side of the cable?
Second, why do I have a volume difference from the line out when the PS2a is in bypass when the cab is connected vs when it’s not connected?
When you say “disconnected from power”, do you mean actually disconnecting the power cable or just turning it off? I read in the manual that it can be dangerous above some power levels in power-off mode. Is it safe to run the 100W Super Kraken like that?
And if I want to run the line out directly into the audio interface and get no sound from the cab, do I use it in operate/power-off mode and disconnect the cab cable? Because when the cab is connected, I get some sound even if the volume is at zero.
Is there a difference between operate or no power for this use case?
Yes the power switch being off is fine. I am a little paranoid. I make sure mine is not plugged in when using it as a load. But I only have a 50W amp. If you are using it with 100W then yes, power it so that the fan operates.
I’m pretty sure the line out works when the unit is off, it’s a passive transformer coupled type.
So unfortunately, I can’t get zero sound from the cab when I use the line out as I use a 100W amp?
Because turning off the PS isn’t recommended for 100W amps and by tuning it on I always get some sound.
I understand, I hear the transformer but a very very faint signal from the speaker. I guess this is cross-talk from within the unit or maybe the volume pot is not fully cutting off all the signal. I have found that it’s a very insignificant amount of volume. Do you experience something different?
