Hi. Dan you just replied to my question regarding Tubes for what I thought was a CLX model. It´s actually a CLXT model. I cannot find anything online about that model. The amp came with 6 small tubes (one of them a EL84) and 4 powertubes. Looking in the CLX manual having a EL84 in there seems wrong but having 6 small tubes at all does not correspond with the manual either.
Would appreciate any guidance what tubes should be in there and also a manual if that exists. Thanks so much. BTW I tried finding the original post and also reply on your email but I can´t find the post anyrhere on this site and the email reply was sent in return saying I did´nt have acces to reply on the post. That´s why I created this new post.
Thanks for your help.
Hi Wive!
Thanks for joining!
Oh I see, it’s an older VHT amp. The EL84 could be a reverb driver, that’s quite reasonable. Just replace like for like. Someone at the shop will need to find the user manual!

Dan
Hi Dan,
Ah, great I´ll do that then.
As I explained in my previous post suddenly the gain dropped a lot. Which got me thinking it might be a good idea to replace the tubes. Perhaps difficult to diagnose without inspecting the amp but does it sound reasonable it´s tube related?
A manual would be fantastic if you find that.
Thanks,
Christian
Yes, that sounds very tube related, especially if they are already quite old by now.
Thanks. That would be great if it´s that simple.
The CLX manual stated very specific tube recomendations with 12AX7 tubes just stating “China” behind them. Do you think the Tung-Sol tubes would be a good match or would you await to see what the manual states?
Also, do these amps need bias adjustments after tube replacement?
Tung Sol in V1, Shuagang in the rest.
