Issues with foot controller - Pittbull 45 1 x12 Combo

Recently purchased a Pittbull combo from the Newbury Park era and love the amp. Having issues with the foot controller, though. Reverb and Effects switches work well, but getting nothing from either the Boost or Channel switches. Any help or suggestions?

Hey @MattK

Does this thread help at all?

Could there be an issue with the cable or connector?

Figured out the issue but I appreciate the response to my inquiry!

Hi Matt,

What was the issue in the end?

Regards,

Dan

The input on the amp needed a little contact cleaner and the male input on the footswitch cord has a few loose solder points. The connection is a bit loose into the amp, though. I have the cord run under the carrying handle on top of the amp and then I to the footswitch input for a tighter connection. Any thoughts on how to create a tighter connection plugging into the amp input?

Hi Matt,

It’s the guitar import connection that is a bit loose?

You could gently mend the tip contact towards the centre, this should give push against the socket with more force.

Don’t know if you can access that? Is it a part like this? Take care obviously. Leave it powered down for 30 mins., unplug from the wall, and do not touch anything inside, always have on hand in your pocket.

Dan

No, sorry just the 5-pronged footswitch input jack on the amp. Looks like it became loose over time.Working with amps in general, do you know the way I could fix this?

Hi Matt

Have you tired with a new cable? It could be the cable rather than the socket?

Dan

Possibly something to try but the cable seems good i.e. if I leave the cable plugged in normally letting the cord hang down it looses connection. When I plug in and support with a velcro strap it maintains the connection and the footswitch works perfectly. I think the cord may have been pulled or jerked from the amp and messed with the input jack on the amp. Not a big deal as I don’t gig with this amp
